Connect with Your Tarot Deck in 3 Easy Steps

As I sit with a freshly made cup of tea and a slice of homemade boiled cake (an Irish delight) my vibration is very low. I’m exhausted from my week work. I started to ask my self

  • How do you “get closer” to your deck?
  • How do you receive specific, direct messages from your readings?

While reaching for this post these where the most common question new witches had on tarot cards. Today, I’m going to answer these questions for you in one post. Hold on to your hats because this is going to be one hell of a journey!

It’s essential to have a robust relationship with your deck so that you can obtain the best possible abilities with it. Here are some extraordinary ways you can bond with your deck and enhance your natural confidence!

Fun Fact

Tarot cards likely originated in northern Italy during the late 14th or early 15th century. The oldest surviving set, known as the Visconti-Sforza deck, was created for the Duke of Milan’s family around 1440. The cards were used to play a bridge-like game known as tarocchi, popular at the time among nobles and other leisure lovers.


One of the most favourite methods to connect with your deck is to meditate with either all or one of the cards. If you have the entire deck in your hand, It is recommended that you should lightly shuffle it while letting your mind embrace your deck. You should think about what you like about it, what is your favourite cards are, what cards you resonate with, what cards you need to work with more.

Visual bond

This is the first thing you should do when you get a new deck. The best way to connect to your new deck is to regularly visuals your deck until you feel a stable connection. Take your time to look through your deck, unshuffled, and take it all the imagery. Find the story the cards are telling, pick out your visual favourites, and look through the guidebook as you peruse the deck.

Tarot Journal

I cherish my tarot journal. I should have done this sooner! Journaling daily has helped me connect with my cards on such a deep, personal level that I know I could not have achieved without it. Its the place where I can record all my thoughts, make connections, and just free-write about the cards and watch my intuition strengthen develop.
