Do You Think You’re an Underachiever, Try This Instead.

Previously I wrote a post stating that “I haven’t achieved anything. I can’t effectuate my dreams or desires. I yearn for achievement, no matter how big or small. Something to be grateful for. A story to share.”

What does underachievement mean?

"Underachievement is a stress indicator associated with physical problems and emotional discomfort. High scorers on this scale have the perception that they are not very productive with their lives and, as a result, become very dissatisfied with themselves."

What I've Learnt!

While I was at university, I was accomplishing less than I expect. I didn’t have the skill required to reach my goal. Occasionally I failed to meet my expectations. I know now I should have taken a step back and then look more closely at what is really preventing me from doing what I wanted.

Harold Cohen, PhD, 2018, put this into perspective, by saying you should ask yourself, “Did I truly fail at what I set out to do?” Then take a different perspective. Perhaps there are different levels of success. Consider that life may be just a quest for constant improvement. Or ask yourself, if you come very close to succeeding but miss the mark by only a little, is that really failure?”

After reflecting back to the First and Second year. I wasn’t an underachiever. I achieved as much as I was capable of accomplishing at the time. While battling with depression. I was performing much more than I recognised. I was setting myself up for failure and disappointment. The solution that I’ve learned is to scale down or modify what I expect.

By setting realistic and achievable expectations and goals produce a feeling of well-being and success. Yet too many of us set goals that cannot be achieved. Readjusting expectations is a healthy and productive way to reduce your stress. As the adage goes, “Learn to walk before you run.”

What I do instead.

Since my Spiritual Awaking, I’ve learnt a lot about myself and how to change my NEGATIVE mindset to a POSITIVE one. Especially when it comes to thinking YOU’RE AN UNDERACHIEVER! The truth is your not. As I stated above YOU NEED TO SET REALISTIC GOALS.

Each new moon brings an opportunity to transform our lives with a brand new lunar cycle, a period when we can put our goals into action and make our dreams a reality. I adore these new moon days because I’m an eager ass b*tch, and I know you are too.

The new moon is symbolic of the second chance we are granted over and over again. If everything went astray by the time of the full moon and we made every error we could have probably made, the new moon gifts us with a clean slate. This is why the new moon is the perfect time to meditate, journal, organize, and plan our next move. The new moon’s purifying energy is there to assist us in your reflection.

On a new moon, it’s always a good idea to write down your intentions for the forthcoming month and ask the universe for assistance in obtaining them. Spells, rituals and goals that are about beginning again, banishing the old, and moving on are always adequately if done on the new moon.

By writing down 3 – 7 goals during the new moon and meditating on or goals and intention we being to manifestations our goal and purposes. This has helped me to change my mindset and to be able to achieve my goals and desires. I challenge you to give it a go and see yourself accomplishing your dreams.
